     Aurora Karamzin's father-in-law, Nikolai Demidov, had purchased the San Donato estate near Florence and with it the title of prince from the Grand Duke of Tuscany. The Demidov family were granted the freedom of the city of Florence in return for their generosity. The San Donato estate and the title of prince were inherited by Nikolai's younger brother, Anatol, who was married to Princess Mathilde Bonaparte. Prince Anatol died without issue, and

      Aurora's son Paul inherited his uncle's vast fortune and the title of Prince of San Donato. Aurora Demidov - the granddaughter of Aurora Karamzin - married Prince Arseni Karageorgevits in 1892. Their son Paul Karageorgevits, Prince Regent of Yugoslavia, was married to Olga, Princess of Denmark and Greece. Their daughter, Princess Elisabeth, is the mother of the American film star Catherine Oxenberg.
