The Kalliolinna villa.

The superintendent of the spa, medical doctor Frans Johan Rabbe had a villa built for himself. The villa, designed by E.B. Lohrmann, was completed in 1843. Built on a steep outcrop of rock, the villa was an imposing sight, and for a long time an important landmark along Helsinki's coastline. A Helsinki tour guide from 1848 compared it to a crusader's castle. Indebted, the Kalliolinna villa was sold in 1859 to

the Livonian Baron Paul von Wittinghoff. Then in 1871 it was bought by the Russian merchant Jacob Tschernischeff. During his time, the angular turrets with entrances were added to the villa's south-facing façade.
Nowadays the villa is a residential building. In 1956 a residential block designed by Kaj Englund was erected next to the villa.
