At the Kaivopuisto spa the guests imbibed the waters under the supervision of a physician. Music was always on offer to accompany the social gathering and promenading. The waters were served as early as six o'clock in the morning. Each glass was followed by a fifteen-minute walk, and after the last glass had been imbibed the guests had to exercise outdoors for a further half hour. The waters were taken for at least a month.

concerts and dances. Alongside the Guards' Band, the place paid host to orchestras from Austria, Russia, France and Germany.
Dances were arranged twice a week in the summer months, on Sundays and Wednesdays. The favourites of the day were the polka and the waltz. The contredanse, or country dance, was a popular set of dance figures, the steps carefully practised in dance courses from an early age.
