Area 260 hectares • A pleasant, close-to-the-nature
residential area will be built in an area to
be vacated by oil tanks. • Some 1 000 different jobs –
mainly for service sector areas • Schools, day-care centres, sports facilities, beach and marinas will be constructed. • Also a tram and pedestrian bridge connection from the city centre is under consideration. Using the bridge, the travel time to the centre of Helsinki is 20 minutes. |
|
A new seaside district, Kruunuvuorenranta, will be built in the next decade opposite the city centre, on the eastern shore of Kruunuvuorenselkä open sea. A splendid view opens towards the sea and Helsinki city centre. |

The location of the district in an archipelagian seascape on a peninsula projecting into the sea is of exceptional beauty. The presence of the sea can be sensed everywhere. The shore can be reached by foot in a few minutes. The district offers excellent opportunities for boating, fishing and other maritime recreations. |

The future Kruununvuorenranta is a kaleidoscopic seaside city of the 2000’s, consisting of different high-rise and low-rise blocks. The construction will be adjusted to the topographically altering terrain, and the highest rocks are left intact. The district is linked to the city centre with a tramline which will cross the bay via a bridge. |

The buildings in the southern part of Kruunuvuorenranta, Canal City, are located along the canal. There will also be houses with private waterfronts and even floating homes. |
