• A second city centre at 3,5 km distance from the old city centre.
• The idea is to turn Central Pasila into a new urban centre for business, service and
housing. It will be the core area for enterprise and business development. There is a cluster of national and commercial broadcasting media as well as digital contents and services producers. Pasila Fair Centre is also strongly expanding.
• An international competition will be launched to plan the main block and landmarks
in the centre.
• In the near future all trains to Helsinki will stop here. Subway will stretch to Pasila
and also a fast connection to the airport will be constructed.
• The whole area of Pasila spreads on 167 hectares (Central Pasila 60 hectares and
Ilmala Media City 27 hectares, Old Factory Area (Konepaja) 15 hectares, Northern Pasila 65 hectares).
• The western side of the area borders on the Central Park, offering good opportunities
of inner city type housing production – and excellent opportunities for nature exploring, re-freshing and sports.

Pasila is the new extension to Helsinki inner city – only three minutes away by rail from Helsinki Main Railway Station. Pasila Railway Station is the busiest in Finland. Tomorrow’s Pasila will be a meeting point throbbing with life 24/7.

At present, Central Pasila is being dominated by the railway and rail yard. Once the rail yard has been moved elsewhere, a compact, functional and pleasant urban workplace, service and residential area will be built in the vacated site. Rail traffic shapes the identity of the district.

Helsinki Fair Centre is the largest fair and congress centre in Finland. New exhibition halls and a tower-like annex to the hotel are being planned in the Fair Centre area. A breathtaking view over the nearby sports park and the main railway line opens from the hotel tower.
